What we did to help
IFA’s members discover and create a new sense of the association’s value
Like many trade associations today, IFA felt torn in different directions as it faced its 85th birthday and a change of director general. The diverse membership expected the association to do everything and to do it well, despite finite resources.
In a first phase, Prospero worked with staff to identify the strategic choices facing the association, given the changes in the external operating environment and feedback already received from membership. Prospero then conducted an extensive member consultation — consisting of group consultations and interviews — to bring the key issues to the surface and to better understand which concerns were shared globally and which were limited to clusters or individual members.
The third phase, currently underway, is engaging members and staff to use the data gathered to design new, more collaborative ways to work so that IFA is better positioned to accommodate its diverse membership and to be responsive in a world of constant flux under the leadership of its incoming general director.
